Fruit Donuts

Creating your own unique and fun Fruit Donuts is a gasp-worthy romantic gesture for your loved ones! Hosen fruits such as Pineapple Cubes, Sliced Peaches and Lychee make such a pretty decor with its beautiful colours and great shapes!

Instructions

To prepare the donuts:

1

Pour warm milk into small bowl. Gradually stir in granulated sugar and yeast until dissolve.

2

Let the mixture stand for about 10 minutes until the yeast activates and thick foam appears.

3

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the centre and mix in butter, egg yolks and yeast.

4

Using a hand mixer fitted with the dough hook, beat dough for 3-4 minutes on medium speed until it comes together and forms a ball.

5

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour until it is doubled in size.

6

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and roll out 3/8 inch thick. Using a dough cutter, cut out the donuts.

7

Transfer donuts to a baking sheet that is lightly greased. Space them about 1 inch apart.

8

Spray top of the donuts with non-stick cooking spray and cover with plastic wraps. Let it stand for about 30 minutes until they have doubled in size.

9

In a deep fryer, heat oil to 177 °C and line baking sheet on a wire cooling rack.

10

Working in a batch of 6, fry the donuts until they turn lightly golden brown. Transfer to wire rack and let cool for about 10 minutes before glazing.

To prepare the donut glaze:

1

Whisk together the powdered sugar, water and preferred food colouring in a bowl

2

Adjust consistency of glaze, by adding a small amount of sugar if the mixture is too water or by adding water if the mixture looks too thick.

3

Repeat the same procedure in different bowls to get various shades of colour.

4

Pour glaze over donuts

5

Add decorative coloured icing and chocolate pearls while glaze is still wet

6

Top it off with Hosen fruits for that extra taste and look

7

Allow donuts to set before serving
